
BANGKOK - Not even six months back to their homeland, the former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his wife, Pojaman, back into exile. Coming home from attending the Olympics in Beijing, China, Thaksin did not return to his country, but directly to England. Thus, they will not attend the trial of corruption cases dragging them as defendants.
In a fax sent by Mr Thaksin to Bangkok Post, Thaksin confirmed that his country retreat to Elizabeth. It had taken steps for the safety of him and his family. Thaksin said he had been threatened. There are parties who want to eliminate him and his family. Also, Thaksin rate charged of corruption cases against him were politically smelly.
In a letter written by hand and shipped from news agency in London, the Manchester City football club owner was also conveyed his apologies to the Supreme Court. "I must apologize again for deciding to stay in England. If I'm lucky, I'll be back. Because I want to die in this country (Thailand) as well as other Thai people," he said.
Some observers said that Mr Thaksin might be looking for political asylum in the UK. However, it is not mentioned in the letter Thaksin.
Thaksin's departure back to exile the country welcomed the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD). Anti-Thaksin group consists of various circles who are united by hatred for Mr Thaksin was indeed kept trying to shake Thaksin and his regime.
