
SINGAPORE - Prime Minister (PM) of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong in his country encourages youth to get married early. The goal, couples who are married may soon have a new generation and add to the population of Singapore.
According to Lee, the suggestion was considered necessary because the country's birth rate is very low, only 1.29 children per woman. Though, to be able to maintain the number of 4.6 million residents, the birth rate required is 2.1. He showed concern over Tionghoa in Singapore. Therefore, the number of births in the community was only 1.14, the lowest when compared with other ethnic groups there.
Lee guessed, these conditions arise because the ambitions of its citizens to pursue a career. As a result, many women postpone marriage for the sake of ideals. Conversely, many Singaporean men think more traditional.
"Supposedly, between career and marriage can walk in balance," Lee said as she urged the women to marry and give birth while they were young age. "If you wait until succeed in your career, you could have passed the ideal age to give birth," he explained.
Lee reminded the husband to change the way you think. In ancient times, men are more powerful in the household. But, it is not currently available. "Now, women are more demanding equality," added the father of four children.
